Xbox One October Update Detailed

Keep the updates coming Microsoft. Each one makes the console a little bit better.
The monthly Xbox One update for this month has been detailed. Speaking in a post through Xbox Wire, Major Nelson breaks down the features of the update, which seems to focus on new snap, friends and TV features. Here are the details:
  • Friends
    • The friends list can now be snapped, so players no longer have to leave the game they are playing to see who is on.
    • A new friends section now allows players to see what friends are up to, whether playing a game or watching something on Netflix. This page also has a new Gamerscore board of the top friends on your list from the last 30 days.
    • The Achievement app has been updated to show achievements unlocked with captions as well as allow players to see a list of friends who have unlocked specific achievements.
  • Snap
    • New apps can now be snapped, such as the Game DVR, clock and battery indicator apps. Players also no longer have to dig through menus to snap apps, but simply need to double tap the Xbox button to bring up a menu that allows them to open a new app in snap mode, close a snapped app or switch focus between the game and the snapped app.
    • The Achievement app snap page now shows only the achievements of recently played games when the gamer is not actively playing.
  • TV Features:
    • OneGuide has been added to 11 new countries, including Belgium, Chile, Columbia, Denmark, Norway, Portugal, Finland, Sweden, Poland, Russia and Switzerland. This update also includes SmartGlass Universal Remote feature for the newly added countries.
    • In markets where OneGuide is available, a new MiniGuide can be displayed on the bottom of the screen, with details about what is currently playing on TV. Players can also switch channels quickly, see what's on another channel and tune to recent channels through the MiniGuide.
There are a slew of other, smaller updates, so check out the post for more, and keep it locked to The Jesters Court for more news on Microsoft, Xbox One and gaming news today.
