Seattle is Still a Great Destination for This Super Powered Franchise - The inFamous: First Light Take Your Time Review

Quick Note: Short, but straight to the point, First Light is the standard all downloadable story content should be held to. With a few hours of story and tons of challenges and arenas to take on, the package is well worth the $15 to dive back into inFamous and the neon powers that come with it.

inFamous: Second Son made a lot of promises for PS4 owners and early adopters. The multitude of powers and a real world location brought along some great change and, despite a few stumbling points with pacing and storytelling, introduced us to Fetch, a charismatic and emotional neon powerhouse that Delsin helps, in one way or another. Where as our time with Fetch was fleeting in Second Son, the woman's story and powers are front and center in First Light, and what a package they make.

Monster Hunter With a Grappling Hook, And It's Fantastic - The Freedom Wars Take Your Time Review

Quick Note: With a faster battle system and a unique thorn-grappling hook system, the game play in Freedom Wars is rock solid. It will take a few hours for the game to click and the story can be disjointed, but taking down abductors, whether with friends or alone, feels so damn good. A must buy for Vita owners everywhere.

Years ago I picked up my first Monster Hunter game on PSP. I had heard so many great things about the game, and who doesn't like fighting dinosaur like monsters? After my first hour with the game I was done. From the slow paced combat system to the non-existent story, the game was just not for me. I tried over and over again with different 'hunting' games, including the recent Soul Sacrifice, and repeatedly failed to get into the games.

So when Freedom Wars was announced, I was less than thrilled. Sure, the style of the game looked cool, but did I really want to put money into another game that I would play for two hours and put down? After rolling the dice and taking the gamble, I'm glad to report that it was well worth it. Not only is Freedom Wars a fantastic take on the 'hunting' style game that I hope is repeated, it is also one of the best online experiences this holiday and probably the best online experience for PS Vita period.

Episode One of Game of Thrones is a Good Start For Fans - The Take Your Time Review

Quick Note: Episode One has certainly set the stage for what is to come. The tone and depth of the series is here, but if you haven't seen any of the show or read the books, you will probably be lost. But if you like Telltale Games or Game of Thrones, this is worth checking out.

For quite some time fans of the Game of Thrones series have been looking for a game worthy of it's namesake. Though previous attempts have failed, it looks like Telltale Games may have the secret sauce to make the ambitious, interwoven story work in the video game realm, though newcomers may get lost in the attempt to make a story that is relevant to the TV series.

Great But Brief Pixelated Horror With A Changing Story Makes Home Great - The Take Your Time Review

Quick Note: Home is short and sweet, with a good twist on horror stories. The way the story builds (or doesn't build) based on your decisions is very unique, and it's short length merits multiple playthroughs either on your console or handheld, just make sure it's with headphones and in the dark.

The horror genre has grown quite a bit since it has permeated visual mediums. There are now multiple sub-categories, from gore fest horror stories filled with buckets of blood and enough dismemberment to turn you stomach, to survivor horror, where the biggest fear is not having the supplies to survive. Some where outside of these bigger categories lies the subtle horror, where the biggest fear is what you can't see, and that is where Home lies. Filled with mystery and a distinct lack of visuals and sound, Home leaves the scary parts up to what you can imagine, which makes it a fantastic game to play for all fans of horror.

Mining and Metroidvania Collide with Good Results in SteamWorld Dig - The Take Your Time Review

Quick Note: Though a little repetitive and lacking a compelling story, Steamworld Dig satisfies that grind. The upgrades and new mechanics help keep the game going and makes traveling to older areas more enjoyable. Great for gamers who enjoy grinding, 2D platforming or smaller games on the go.

Most games shoehorn themselves into nice, neat categories. As more and more games are created by smaller, independent teams, these categories start to blur between one another, often times creating new and interesting experiences we've never had before. SteamWorld Dig feels like it is close to that potential, but falls just short of greatness with pacing issues.
