Microsoft is Publishing Rise of the Tomb Raider

Will we ever see Rise of the Tomb Raider on PS4?
Microsoft has confirmed that the company will indeed be publishing Square Enix's Rise of the Tomb Raider.
Speaking on Twitter, Xbox head of Marketing Aaron Greenburg answered the question posted by another user that Microsoft would be putting up the funds for the game. You can read the original tweet below:

IGN later reached to Square Enix, which sent over a response stating, "yes, Microsoft will be publishing Rise of the Tomb Raider on Xbox." The statement goes on to say, "Microsoft has always seen huge potential in Tomb Raider and they will get behind this game with more support across development, marketing and retail than ever before, which we believe will be a step in continuing to build the Tomb Raider franchise as one of the biggest in gaming."

It has already been confirmed that the deal between Microsoft and Square Enix has a duration, though with this news that Microsoft is publishing, the deal may be closer to what Capcom and Microsoft have done with Dead Rising 3, which may mean no Rise of the Tomb Raider for PS4 owners. We will have to wait for more news as it comes.

  1. That really disappointing! I enjoyed the first tomb raider on my PS4 and was really amped up for the next release! Sorry square -enix but you won't be seeing my money unless it comes to PS4!

  2. They have updated with a statement stating that the game is still owned by themselves and the Microsoft doesn't own the rights to the game, but they are paying for it to be released on Xbox consoles. It will be interesting to see what happens.
