Gamer's Source 2-18-14

Welcome to Gamer's Source, a daily news segment with the top five news stories in gaming today. As always, there are opinions and speculation, so feel free to share your own in the comments. Without further ado...

Number ONE!

Sega has finally decided what to do with acquired company Index Corporation and it's subsidiaries, including Atlus. Starting April 1st of this year, Index Corporation will be renames Atlus Co., and it's overseas branch will be branded Atlus U.S.A. This is exciting news for fans of the developer who showed major concerns when Sega bought the company back in September of last year. The only thing more exciting would be some real information on Persona 5....

Thanks Gamasutra

Number TWO!!

Sony announces today that the PS4 has sold over 5.3 million units worldwide. This is good to hear, as the system has seen a pretty heavy issue with being out of stock. Though these are just numbers, it's pretty interesting to see such powerful numbers, especially considering that the console hasn't even released in it's native country Japan.

Thanks Gamasutra!

NUMBER Three!!!

Irrational Games is restructuring itself, resulting in some massive layoffs. Announced by Ken Levine, co-founder of the developer, the studio will be moving in a different direction, focusing on smaller, more narrative driven experiences. In order to achieve this goal, the studio will be letting go of almost everyone there, except for a small few, officially shutting down Irrational Games as we know it. My wishes go out to all whom lost employment. Best of luck.

NUMBER Four!!!!

And just when you thought it was over, the Year of Luigi continues! Speaking on Miiverse.net, Miyamoto has confirmed that the Year of Luigi will continue on until March 18th, making the event 18 months long. Just a fun fact. Enjoy it.

NUMBER FIVE!!!!!

There will be no Fallout 4 announcements any time soon. Game director for Bethesda Todd Howard interviewed with Rock, Paper, Shotgun, stating that the company is waiting for the appropriate time to talk about the game. This comes to many fans chagrin after numerous rumors about the game have been popping up all over the place over the passed six months.

AND THAT'S ALL!!! Leave some comments below and talk to some people about what you heard today. Feel free to share with friends and as always, keep the conversation going.
