Metal Gear Solid Fan Film is Pulling the Plug

Fan made Metal Gear Solid film Philanthropy will not be getting an ending. Despite the popularity of Part 1 and Hideo Kojima's excitement to see Part 2, the team will be shutting down the project due to worries about legal issues with rights to the franchise.

The New 'Buddy System' Changes The Way Stealth Works in Metal Gear Solid V

Kojima Productions has shown off a new system that looks to change Metal Gear Solid's stealth action gameplay. Aptly named the Buddy System, Snake can now take in a unique ally for support during certain missions. Though only the sniper Quiet has been shown off, creator Hideo Kojima has hinted at the possibility of other supporters.

The Biggest Tease in Metal Gear to Date

Quick Note: Ground Zeroes is fun and has gotten me excited for Phantom Pain, but with the lack of any real depth outside the combat system, I still can't help but feel a bit disappointed. If you are a fan of the franchise, don't miss it on a sale; Otherwise, you might be better off skipping this one.

Unlike most fans of the series, I hadn't played a Metal Gear Solid game until PS3. My first was Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and I was terrible at it. I would constantly get caught. I couldn't aim or shoot worth a damn. I could not stand the Crying Wolf boss fight. But I could not put the game down. I played through it in a week, getting all the way to the end with more questions than when I started. Since then, I have been hooked.

Metal Gear Solid: The PSX Classic I Missed...Still Amazing 15 Years Later

It's been almost 15 years since the original release of Kojima's masterpiece on the original Playstation. When it was first released, I wasn't much of a gamer, and when I did it was mostly Japanese RPGs like Final Fantasy and Pokemon. Since it's re-release on the Playstation Network, I promised myself I would play it to get a better understanding of the series mythos and to see just how good this game was. Even at a 14 year disadvantage and a technological handicap of the same time period, this game can beat out most modern games without so much as a breaking a sweat. This game is great!

Metal Gear Solid follows Solid Snake as he infiltrates an Alaskan military base where terrorists have taken over. On this same base, the military has not only hidden nuclear warheads, but a mysterious new Metal Gear, a giant bi-pedal mech capable of launching said nuclear warheads anywhere around the globe. The story is well paced and full of intrigue, per Metal Gear Solid style. This is the story that sets the basis for the rest, so it shouldn't be a surprise to hear that it lives up to the series name sake. The characters are all unique and I even felt a twinge of anger when one of the characters is not given a detailed fleshing out like the rest (it's one of the enemies that Snake never fights. That's not a spoiler but when you play you'll know).

Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker May As Well be Metal Gear Solid 5

I've never liked shooters. It could be my lack of skill and accuracy or that a majority of them are just not that interesting to me. So as the years have passed I passed up on shooter after shooter, regardless of the reviews or the clamor of how great these games were. My freshmen year of college my room mate, Chris Mahaley, introduced me to Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (wiki link for those who need it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metal_Gear_Solid_4:_Guns_of_the_Patriots). I have been an avid fan since. Metal Gear Solid 4 opened my eyes to the glory that is Kojima Productions number one franchise, and Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker carries the torch beautifully.
