I listen to many groups of rock bands, and I typically have a category I can put every band. Cage the Elephant has always been in my "Weird Music" grouping, and with this second album release it has become more apparent that my grouping is correct. This CD is fantastic, but I can easily see where some people will be turned off.

Cage the Elephant: Thank You Happy Birthday

Perfect Ending to the Angry Trilogy
When the demo for the first God of War (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/God_of_War_%28video_game%29 ) came out, I was in middle school and was an avid Final Fantasy junkie. A friend of mine had just introduced me to Devil May Cry and I decided to pick up the demo for God of War . I couldn't get past battling one Hydra head. I died ten times in five minutes and finally gave up and through the disc (that's right, demo discs) in the trash can. After that I refused to pick up the series. Time passed and God of War II came out as well as the PSP game Chains of Olympus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/God_of_War:_Chains_of_Olympus ) but I still didn't want to touch them. For Christmas, my dad accidentally bought me the PSP game and in order to not hurt his feelings (he worked really hard to get me some good games that year) I opened the game and popped it in. After that, my eyes were opened.

Krato's Rage Made Portable Once More
Sometimes a player wants to play a game just to kill something. Sometimes you just want to massacre whatever comes your way. There are plenty of games that let you the player do this, but none are as gorily satisfying as the God of War franchise (here's some information for those of you either stuck under a rock the past few years or ignorant to the world of video games: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/God_of_War_%28video_game%29). With three core games under its belt plus the PSP side stories it has been thriving for half a decade, and the inclusion of Ghost of Sparta is no exception.

Kingdom Hearts Outing on PSP is Right on Par
Back in 2000 I wasn't much of a gamer. I watched my brothers play Golden Eye on Nintendo 64 or watched my best friend Chris Firgens play Final Fantasy VIII and IX on the original Playstation, but I never delved too deep. After Chris moved away I felt I had no choice but to start playing myself and picked up IX. Instantly I fell in love. From the game play to the characters to the story, I just ate every bit of the game up. When I was through I picked up Final Fantasy VII right away. I became obsessed, avidly eating away at every game I came across that Square Enix (Squaresoft at the time) released. While thumbing through a Playstation Magazine I came across the company's latest outing: Kingdom Hearts. I was appalled. How could some company that created such fantastic games that spoke volumes to me create a game with Disney?! I refused to play it, even after critics every where praised it. Years later, while sifting through a used games bin I came across the game. For ten dollars, it was mine. So I said "screw it," and bought the game. Needless to say I am now an avid fan of Kingdom Hearts and gobble up every title that is released. When I heard about Birth By Sleep, I immediately went to the nearest game retailer and pre-ordered it, picking the game up the day it came out. What I got out of the game wasn't quite what I went in for, but not in a disappointing way.

Splice is the Reason Why Genetic Manipulation is Dangerous
There are times when you watch a movie and as the credits roll you are just stunned. Sometimes it is a good pause where you can't believe what just happened and you're excited and satisfied. Other times it's a stunned silence that fills the air because you can't believe what you just watched. After sitting through Splice with my two younger brothers and my best friend John, we all turned to each other and just stared in awe, only being able to utter the line "What the hell?!" For the rest of the weekend, despite going to a concert of one of our favorite bands and moving my father to Boone, NC, at the end of Sunday night my brothers and I could still not get Dren off of our minds. That's when you know a movie is good, at least in my book.
