Treasure Trove - Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc

Welcome back, Treasure Seekers. Every other week you can find a new underrated or lesser known game to learn about here on Treasure Trove. The last two episodes involved very well known franchises, so now it's time to really dig for buried treasure. This week I bring you Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, a visual novel/adventure game in which students are kidnapped by a black and white killer teddy bear. "What the hell?" you may ask. Just trust me and listen to why this game is one of PS Vita's best.

Thanks to Konrad "FeniX" Gadzina and Cleyton R. Xavier for the music in this episode and Kenney for the minimal artwork for the logos. Head over to their links to check out more of their great work.

October's PS Plus Games Have Been Announced and Nintendo is Giving Away A Free Pokemon for Halloween.

Hello and welcome to The Gamer's Source, your destination for gaming information. October's PlayStation Plus games have been announced and hackers are making their way to court for stealing from Microsoft, Epic Games and the US Government. SO, without further ado, the news:

Vacation With A Bit of Murder in Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair - The Take Your Time Review

Quick Note: This sequel takes the story from the first and improves it in many ways, but also inflates play time with some pretty useless systems. If you're a fan of the first and enjoy mystery games, dive right in. If you didn't like the first one or never played it, move onto another game.

Earlier this year the delightfully devious Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc came to the states. The twisted premise of solving your fellow classmates murders while trying to figure out why you're trapped in Hope's Peak Academy was enthralling, though there were a few confusing design choices. The sequel, Goodbye Despair, does a great job of answering some questions while stacking on many more queries, but with even more unnecessary grinding in the middle.

Vita Games That Need to Come to the West

There's a secret that a lot of gamers don't know: The PS Vita is awesome. Though the handheld hasn't sold well and Sony has announced that less first party games will be coming to the system, there are still plenty of great games out now for the Vita. The future of this amazing gaming device is in limbo right now, with Sony's uncertain of what to do with the device while most developers are taking a 'wait and see' approach towards development with the system, and that frightens me.

There is so much great about the Vita, and so much potential to be pulled out of the handheld. Japan is finally starting to get why the Vita is so great, as game releases are starting to ramp up in the Land of the Rising Sun. With all the recent and soon to be out releases available for Vita owners, I wanted to point out a few great games that need to come to the West. Not only will these titles add to the already great library the Vita has, I personally believe that these games will be able to help drive sales for the handheld and push developers to creating more games for the system.

Trials and Executions Amongst Friends

Quick Note: Though it suffers from a small identity crisis and some odd pacing, Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc is still a fun time with a great story and really interesting play style. For fans of the point and click Adventure games, like Walking Dead or Zero Escape series, this is one you should check out.

My taste in gaming has changed quite drastically over the years. For a long time I refused to play anything that wasn't a JRPG. Then I slowly moved towards the story driven action games. These days I try to play every possible genre to keep my mind open to new things and to be able to part of the gaming conversation. Two years ago, I don't think I would have enjoyed Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc as much as I did today. That's not to say the game doesn't have any flaws, but there's a great story and solid gameplay that makes those flaws easier to over look.
